Thoughts on Prayer .... by Father Jacques Philippe

Picture
"Thus the practice of mental prayer should lead to continual prayer, not necessarily explicit, verbal prayer, but rather a constant awareness of God’s presence.
Living under God’s gaze like that will set us free.
Too often, when we feel other people’s eyes on us, it is because we fear their judgment
or crave their admiration; and if we are always watching ourselves,
that may be complacency at work—or guilt.
But in learning to live under God’smerciful, loving gaze,
we find only inner freedom."   (Time for God by Father Jacques Philippe)

Prayer For A Loved One's Conversion

O Father, in the name of Your Son Jesus, and in the power and authority of the Holy Spirit,
I ask that You fill (name) with the knowledge of Your Will through ALL spiritual wisdom and understanding.
Enlighten this precious child of Yours, dear Lord!  Teach this dear one to live in a manner that is worthy of You,
so as to be fully pleasing to You, full of good works bearing good fruits and ever growing in knowledge of You.
Strengthen this lost lamb, dear Lord, with every power of Your Holy Spirit, in accordance with Your might,
for all endurance and patience, with joy, giving thanks to You O Father!
Make Your child fit to share in the inheritance of the holy ones in the Light.
Deliver this beloved one from the power of darkness and transfer (name) into the kingdom of Your Beloved Son,

Jesus, in whom is redemption and the forgiveness of sins.
Amen.

Prayer for Trust and Confidence in God's Mercy
by Saint Pio of Pietrelcina

O Lord,
we ask for a boundless confidence
and trust in Your divine mercy,
   and the courage to accept
   the crosses and sufferings
   which bring immense goodness
to our souls and that of Your Church.

Help us to love You
with a pure and contrite heart,
and to humble ourselves beneath Your cross,
as we climb the mountain of holiness,
carrying our cross that leads to heavenly glory.

May we receive You
with great faith and love in Holy Communion,
and allow You to act in us as You desire
   for your greater glory.

O Jesus, most adorable Heart
and eternal fountain of Divine Love,
may our prayer find favor before
the Divine Majesty of Your heavenly Father. Amen.

Teach Me, O Lord
by Father John Hardon

Teach me, my Lord, to be kind and gentle in all the events of life, in disappointments, in the thoughtlessness of others, in the insincerity of those I trusted, in the unfaithfulness of those on whom I relied.

Let me put myself aside, to think of the happiness of others, to hide my pains and heartaches, so that I may be the only one to suffer from them.

Teach me to profit by the suffering that comes across my path. Let me so use it that it may mellow me, not harden or embitter me; that it may make me patient, not irritable; that it may make me broad in my forgiveness, not narrow, proud and overbearing.

May no one be less good for having come within my influence. No one less pure, less true, less kind, less noble for having been a fellow traveler in our journey toward eternal life.

As I go my rounds from one task to another, let me say, from time to time, a word of love to You.
May my life be lived in the supernatural, full of power for good, and strong in its purpose of sanctity. Amen.

Prayer of St. Ignatius of Loyola

Take, O Lord, and receive my entire liberty, my memory, my understanding and my whole will. All that I am and all that I possess You have given me. I surrender it all to You to be disposed of according to Your will. Give me only Your love and Your grace; with these I will be rich enough and will desire nothing more.

Prayer For Charity In Truth

Father, your truth is made known in your Word.
Guide us to seek the truth of the human person.
Teach us the way to love because you are Love.

Jesus, you embody Love and Truth.

Help us to recognize your face in the poor.

Enable us to live out our vocation to bring love and justice to your people.

Holy Spirit, you inspire us to transform our world.

Empower us to seek the common good for all persons.

Give us a spirit of solidarity and make us one human family.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.

This prayer is based on Pope Benedict XVI's 2009 encyclical, Caritas in Veritate (Charity in Truth)

Prayer of Trust
O Christ Jesus,
when all is darkness
and we feel our weakness and helplessness,
give us the sense of Your presence,
Your love, and Your strength.

Help us to have perfect trust
in Your protecting love
and strengthening power,
so that nothing may frighten or worry us,
for, living close to You,
we shall see Your hand,
Your purpose, Your will through all things.

~St. Ignatius of Loyola

Prayer During Difficult Economic Times

Gracious God,
We know that your love is infinite and that you care about all areas of our life.

In this time of economic insecurity, help us to trust that all of our security is in you.

Keep us mindful that you always have and always will provide for our needs.

Apart from you we can do nothing.

Merciful God,
We ask that you give our leaders the wisdom to guide our nation and the world out of the current economic crisis.

Help us to protect the poor and all those who are struggling during this difficult time.
Provide for their needs and give them hope.
Open new opportunities for them and furnish the resources they need to live with dignity.

Encourage those who have enough, to share essential resources with those who lack the necessities of life, and to do so with humble, grateful and loving hearts.

We ask this through Christ, Our Lord.  Amen.

Ponder this ...

"No one can praise God in quite the same way as you.  No one can follow Him down the exact same path.  No one but you can love the same set of people.

This is how we give Jesus a gift that fills him with delight ... "

CONSECRATION TO THE HOLY SPIRIT

Venerable Felix of Jesus Rougier, M.Sp.S.J.

O Holy Spirit, receive the absolute and complete consecration of my whole being. In every instant of my life and in all my actions, be my Director, my Light, my Guide, my Strength, and the Love of my heart.

I surrender myself without reservations to the loving action of your grace. I desire to always be docile to your inspirations. Transform me through Mary in Christ Priest and Victim that I may console His Sacred Heart and extend your kingdom of holiness for the glory of the Father and the salvation of mankind.

Jesus, Savior of mankind, Save them!
